Bluegrass Angels began in 2003

Bluegrass Angels is a organization of local investors interested in fostering the growth of start-up businesses in Kentucky, and accelerating the commercialization of research at Kentucky universities, by providing early-stage seed financing and mentoring support. 

In addition, the Bluegrass Angel Fund was created in 2004.

 
Members
The group shares due diligence and investment experience, but makes investment decisions on an individual basis.

Membership Requirements.

All members must be accredited investors as defined in Regulation D under the Securities Act of 1933, or SEC Rule 501, and must be able to sustain the financial risk inherent in their investments.  There is a $1000 yearly membership fee.

Objectives of the Organization

  • To provide early stage and venture capital equity to start-up and/or expanding companies.

  • To help commercialize research being conducted at Universities in Kentucky.

  • To promote and enhance entrepreneurship in the Kentucky business community.
  • To offer management participation/mentoring opportunities to members that will provide valuable expertise to new businesses.
  • To create economic growth and jobs in the Bluegrass area.
  • To provide members with an attractive financial return.
