HomeThe Bluegrass Angels (BGA) seeks to encourage the development of start-up companies and to support new businesses in the region by providing the region's entrepreneurs with seed capital and management guidance from experienced industry and entrepreneurial veterans. An important, although not exclusive, focus of the BGA is to develop start-up companies through the commercialization of the on-going research of the University of Kentucky. Who We AreThe Bluegrass Angels (BGA) is central Kentucky's oldest seed funding organization. We are a formal group of 40+ former and current executives who are interested in investing their time and money into new, cutting edge, startup companies. We've seeded multiple companies in our history. BGA members have a diverse background across many industries ( technology, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, etc.) The BGA meets monthly to formally consider 2 startups selected from among the more than 20 that are screened each month by the BGA Deal Selection Process. Entrepreneurs can expect a thorough examination and, occasionally, an investment from some of Kentucky's most accomplished entrepreneurs.

Angel investing has long been an important source of financial support and mentoring for new and growing businesses, bridging a gap between individual and institutional venture capital rounds of financing or being the only source of external financing. Individual company investments will normally be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000. Bluegrass Angel members invest in Kentucky companies. We look for products and services that can achieve rapid adoption in very large markets. Examples of preferred criteria:
